Black Beard Woodworking

What We Do

At Black Beards, we make great quality products that are made to last. All our wood is reclaimed local wood and sustainably sourced through AB & BC forestry. It is to be used, loved, and displayed throughout building projects and your home.

Black Beard Woodworking

About Us

Established in 2020 Black Beards Woodworking was born out of a small garage and has turned into a premier destination for true dimension rough cut lumber, live edge and artisan craft woodworking pieces.

Whether you are looking for lumber to use in your next building project, treating yourself to new home decor, find something practical, or giving a heartfelt gift to a friend – we’ve got you covered! Our wood is Canadian sourced processed, milled and kiln dried locally. You can be confident buying from us knowing that every piece that is purchased from us saves one more tree from being sent to the wood chipper or landfill.

Our Inspiration

Blackbeards is a team of Calgarians with a passion for woodworking and nature. In 2020, we decided it was time to turn a hobby into a business, and Black Beards Woodworking was born out of a small garage and shop. It has now expanded to an operating location just SE of Calgary driving towards Indus. We have a commercial sawmill and are ready to work hard to fulfill your wood and lumber needs!

We love our community and getting creative – so if you have something you’d like commissioned, please send us a message!

Say Hello !

Duncan Ouellette
Owner & Founder
Duncan started with woodworking as a child in his father’s woodshop and has had a passion for working with wood ever since.

He spent over two decades working in oil and gas before deciding that he needed to be doing carpentry for the rest of his life. And just like that Blackbeard’s Woodworking was born.

Blackbeard’s Woodworking was started in 2020 and has been an active part of the Calgary woodworking scene since. It all started with a small woodshop in the city and has grown into a fully functional urban lumber salvage and milling operation.
